THE TIME IT TAKES {nomadic}

Izah Hankammer

In a place where time stands still, two bodies are subjected to an uncontrollable machine. Tight beats and electronic sounds force them into an exhausting ritual. As in a fever dream, they try to break free, in search of an alternative. In the ruins of what remains, they fantasize about a place where time is spent differently. Through a complex game with endless variations, a polyphonic palette of possibilities, movements, voices and rhythms slowly emerges.

In THE TIME IT TAKES {nomadic}, Izah Hankammer investigates how the political, cultural and social aspects of time and rhythm shape our modern world. Building on her bi-cultural identity, she searches for an age-old wisdom hidden in her body.

In 2020, Filipino-German Izah Hankammer graduated from the Fontys Dance Academy, where she started creating within the maker duo moOv. As a dancer, she has worked with Meyer-Chaffaud Dance Company, United Cowboys and Nicole Beutler Projects. She has also played roles in films and performances such as Flemish Primitives (2022) and De Waarheidscommissie Nederland (2023) by Action Zoo Humain. In her work, she explores the body as a motor of resistance and questions different realities and perspectives on the truth.
