Iter

Magdelaine Hodebourg

Iter is a transdisciplinary performance that brings together dance, science fiction and French-Guyanese traditions. In a dystopian future, an alien and a black woman of Guyanese descent collide. But how do you communicate when everything you know is up in the air? Their confrontation raises questions about humanity and identity, resistance and survival, ecology and social inequality. With influences from Afrofuturist aesthetics, Iter weaves myths, cybernetics and philosophy into a unique choreographic world. A sensory journey full of beauty, resilience and hope.

Born in French Guiana, Magdelaine Hodebourg began classical ballet at the age of 8. In 2006, she moved to the South of France and continued her training in classical, modern and jazz dance in Europe, including at the Avignon Conservatory, the American Academy of Dance in Paris and Rudra BĂ©jart in Switzerland. In 2018, she studied contemporary dance for a year at La nuova officina della danza in Turin, before moving to London and then Belgium, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree at P.A.R.T.S. During her studies, she developed a passion for choreography. Iter marks her first professional choreographic project, supported by Danspunt and DJSCS Guyane.
