Francesca Chiodi Latini
HOLDERS is an immersive performance that explores the extraordinary way an aging body retains memories. In a dynamic textile installation – a visual metaphor for memory – the processes of remembering and forgetting come to life.
At the center are five women aged 65 and older, not professional performers, but the HOLDERS of this fragile yet powerful space. As they knit and unknit the fabric, they whisper, sing and shout the stories woven into it. Like modern Sirens, they move through this complex landscape, balancing between wonder and discomfort.
With their pure radiance and disarming presence, they take the audience on a shared journey of connection and collective memory, blurring the line between spectator and participant.
Francesca Chiodi Latini was born in Turin, Italy, in 1993. She is a performer and choreographer living in Leuven, Belgium. Since 2017 she has been working with Voetvolk/Lisbeth Gruwez, as performer, rehearser and assistant (Nomadics, Into the Open, The Sea Within).
Since 2019, Francesca has been a Trajectory Artist at wpZimmer in Antwerp. JARDIN POILU, her first purely choreographic creation, premiered in September 2020. Today she is supported by KAAP and Workspace Brussels for the creation of Holders.
After studying contemporary dance in Turin and Paris, Francesca moved to Belgium where she graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Antwerp in 2017. Her training has always been intertwined with creative projects and personal choreographic creations. In 2014, she composed her first solo PRIMARI. She then joined Batucada, by Marcelo Evelin (Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2014). In 2015 she participated in Virgilio Sieni Company’s project Atlante del Gesto, performed at the Prada Foundation in Milan(IT). In 2016 she created her second solo AMARYLLIS with which she became a finalist of the Brussels Contemporary Dance Competition.
