Be transported by Solange Theys on the waves of the sea. 4AQUA takes you on an emotional journey to the different moods that the sea can evoke, from calm and serene to tumultuous and stormy.

The performers blend modern dance with butoh, a dance style with its roots in Japan and where movement carries deep significance. With Steven Vrancken’s live music, 4AQUA’s dancers create an intimate and entrancing experience.

Solange Theys has fifty years’ experience in various dance styles and in 50/fifty – her dance group for 50-plussers – she is now concentrating on butoh, contemporary dance and contact improvisation. This includes particular consideration for the expressive development of her dancers rather than technique. In butoh, dancers give expression to repressed feelings and thoughts, the ‘darker’ side of people. By engaging in this confrontation, they endeavour to initiate change in both themselves and the audience.
