Dance lovers in Mechelen, join the dance storm!

Put on your dance shoes and let us hear from you! Breakdance, tango, salsa, dabke, line dance, hip-hop, dancehall… whether you dance alone or with a group, whether you have a dance project going or you simply feel like dancing, DANCE STORM wants you to join in this city festival.

What is DANSSTORM?

From 15 to 17 September 2023, the festival will take over the city of Mechelen with every facet of dance. You will find the DANCE STORM in the Botanical Garden, in the streets and at beautiful, special places around the city. Expect new and existing dance productions, workshops, trial sessions and presentations. We invite everyone in Mechelen to come and sample, feel, watch, breathe and experience dance, and for you to get dancing yourself!

Of course we’re not organising a festival for the people of Mechelen all on our own. If you live in Mechelen and you love dancing, we’d love to see your dance or dance idea on Saturday 16 and/or Sunday 17 September. Be an active part of the festival and put your dance on the map!

Why take part?

Mechelen will be all about dance for an entire weekend during the DANCE STORM. So it’s the perfect moment to put yourself, your dance school or group, your organisation or association in the spotlight for a new or wider audience. And there’s more: Sunday 17 September is Car-Free Sunday, so there will be more people in the street than ever!
Your initiative will be included in the DANCE STORM programme. You’ll get your own page on our website with space for promotional texts, practical info, photos, etc.
In the weeks running up to the festival, we will run a promotional campaign (in the press, social media, posters, an announcement in De Nieuwe Maan, etc.), in partnership with the City of Mechelen.
If you register your initiative on our website before 1 August, you will feature in our programme booklet that will be distributed before and during the festival itself.
During the DANCE STORM, we send out our festival photographers. You will receive their photos afterwards, and you can use them for your own promotional purposes.
Last but not least, the good vibes that a dance festival in your own city spreads are absolutely unmissable!

Interested?

Everyone involved in dance or something related to dance – young and old, experienced or not, on their own or with friends and/or family, you name it – is welcome to get in touch. We’re going to get the whole of Mechelen dancing and loving dance! Register your dance initiative before 1 August and you’ll feature in the programma on our website and in our program booklet.
